Our Experience Staying at Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort

Our main reason for picking Caribbean Beach Resort was the Skyliner. We were keen to try it out and also wanted to have a moderate resort experience. (Up to this point we had only stayed in deluxe resorts at Walt Disney World.) Because this type of resort is so spread out, we requested a room near the Skyliner station. Much to our delight, our Aruba village room was only two buildings away from the station. Literally less than a 5-minute walk away from the station!

This being our first time at CBR, we neglected to realize the distance required to walk WITH LUGGAGE to our room upon arrival. If we had it to do over again, we definitely would have taken the Internal Resort Shuttle to our Aruba bus stop! But the walk gave us an opportunity to see some of the resort, take some pictures, and stretch our legs.

We were in the Aruba village in the 5601-5664 room group (near the Skyliner station by Disney’s Riviera Resort). As you can see on the map above, this is a super convenient location if you just want Skyliner access, as well as access to visiting Riviera (we had breakfast at Primo Piatto one morning).

The room itself was very clean and sized very much like a traditional hotel room. We were in an upstairs Standard View 5th Sleeper with a Courtyard view. We never heard our neighbors or anyone else once inside our room, so this area was very quiet and relaxing, and a great place to recover from the 25k+ steps we were getting in every day at the parks!

Although this room is definitely a step down from a 2-bedroom villa or a deluxe standard room, it was still a pleasant place to stay with comfy beds and enough room for the two of us to not feel cramped. Noticeably lacking is a comfy place to sit, so we spent most of the time sitting on the beds.

We would have preferred more storage options, but since the beds are high enough to store empty suitcases under, we at least had those out of the way. However, by mid-stay, we were using the 5th sleeper bench as a shelf. (We may also have been too tired to reorganize drawers each day!)

the 5th sleeper, opened

As we said earlier, the beds were very comfortable but we never opened the 5th sleeper again once we took this pic. That artwork inside the 5th sleeper was literally the ONLY Disney decor in the whole room. And that’s probably our only real complaint about the room (other than wishing for a couch or love seat). We really want to see some Disney decor around us when we stay on property.

We did get a nice Mickey towels arrangement welcome, and a card, but that was it for Disney ambience. The artwork on the walls was only tropical in nature…no Disney themes. Well….there was one hidden Mickey.

The bathroom was…..fine. Nothing special and, in fact, the small toilet/shower room feels like it needs updating. However, the water pressure was great and we had no problems. There are sliding doors between the bathroom and the rest of the room for privacy.

We had housekeeping service every other day, and on those days the beds were neat and tidy.

Would We Stay at Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort Again?

Based on our one and only visit, we would definitely consider staying here again. We loved the location (super close to the Skyliner station) and were satisfied with our room. EPCOT and Hollywood Studios are easy trips via the Skyliner.

Bus transportation is always hit or miss, but most of our waits at the Aruba bus stop were short. However, sometimes waiting AT a theme park for a return bus ride can be frustrating. And, depending on the time of day, you could be standing on a long bus ride at the end of a long park day. Most guests agree that of all the forms of Disney transportation, the buses are the least favorite.

The Centertown Market quick service food we ordered for both a lunch and a breakfast were very good. Centertown Market has a large seating area and is conveniently located at Old Port Royale. On a return trip, we’d love to try Sebastian’s Bistro (which we’ve heard great things about) as well as Spyglass Grill.

If we return, we will plan a trip that has more rest days to take advantage of some of the resort activities like the Movie Nights and s’mores. And we’d also like to try out the main pool as well as the Aruba leisure pool.

All in all, we have no qualms about recommending Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort! If you have further questions or think this may be the resort for you, let’s connect….we can make your next Disney vacation happen, and with no service fees!
